Mehmet Mehmetalioğlu completed his initial design education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. During his studies, he spent a year as an exchange student at Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany. After graduating, he joined Arçelik’s design team and worked for three years before pursuing a master’s degree in Advanced Product Design at Umeå University, one of the world’s leading design institutions in Sweden.
Following graduation, he worked at renowned design firms like Whipsaw (San Francisco, USA) and IKEA (Älmhult, Sweden), and currently works at Volvo Cars in Sweden as an Industrial Designer & User Experience Designer.
Between 2020 and 2022, he received 13 design awards, including Red Dot, IF Design, and Core 77, in a short span of two years. With his DTS 01 project, he became the first Turkish designer to win the Braun Prize, awarded by Dieter Rams. In addition to his design career, he serves as a project advisor at Umeå University.
